Outpace turns everyday steps into friendly competition. Here’s what happens from your first invite to the evening finish.
Sign in, choose the name your friends know and save a default winner photo. Confirm you’re 18 or older, read the rules and choose whether to connect steps now or later.
Outpace reads steps from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. Connecting health is optional. Without an available step count, you stay unranked.
Friends is your starting place. Invite people you know and compare steps once you’ve both connected. Groups give a crew its own persistent leaderboard, with a chosen timezone.
Public groups can be joined; private groups require an invite. Nearby discovery shows opted-in public groups in a broad city area you select yourself. It doesn’t use GPS or show nearby people.
Steps refresh when you open or resume Outpace, while it’s active and when you refresh manually. Make sure your phone or watch has synced with your health app, then open Outpace before the finish.
React to the leaderboard and encourage your friends. Background step delivery isn’t promised, so don’t rely on an unopened app to submit your final total.
Friends rounds close at 8 p.m. Pacific. Each group closes at 8 p.m. in its chosen timezone. Your first full round is your first eligible round.
The daily winner’s approved photo fills the header until the next winner takes over. Tied leaders share first place; a stored draw chooses one person’s photo. All tied weekly and monthly leaders earn badges.
