The daily round
Each group uses one chosen timezone and an 8 p.m. to 8 p.m. round. Friends competitions use Pacific time. Check the competition’s clock rather than assuming it follows the timezone on your phone.
Daily-win eligibility begins with your first full round after joining and activation. Joining after a round has started does not qualify you to win that partial round.
Sync your steps before the 8 p.m. deadline. Results lock at the deadline using the eligible totals available to Outpace. A later sync can update activity history and current displays without changing a locked award.
Steps and ranking
Outpace uses permitted step totals from Apple Health or, in a supported Android version, Health Connect. Health access and a successful sync are needed to provide a competition total.
A confirmed zero is an eligible total. Unavailable health data is unranked. Missing data is not silently treated as zero.
Do not falsify steps, submit manipulated data or otherwise try to gain an unfair ranking. If a total or result looks wrong, use Help & feedback to report it. The service cannot guarantee that every device measures steps identically.
The winner background
The highest eligible step total wins the daily round. If eligible leaders are tied, they share first place. One stored server-side draw selects which tied leader receives the right to choose the background image. That image selection does not change their tied ranks.
The selected winner’s approved default photo is used if available. The winner may choose another photo for that win until the next winning result. A submitted photo must pass review before it is shared.
Group admins can remove a winner image. A friends-circle viewer can remove an image from their own circle. When an image is removed, a neutral background remains until the next winner.
Weekly and monthly badges
Weeks run Monday through Sunday. Months follow the calendar. Daily results are assigned by the round’s closing date in the competition timezone. Longer-period awards use locked daily results. All tied leaders receive the relevant weekly or monthly badge.
Optional play-points groups
Verified accounts receive 1,000 play points once. Points have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold for money, withdrawn, donated or redeemed.
A play-points group has one fixed daily entry amount for every competitor. Review that amount and accept automatic-entry terms before joining. The first full entry is reserved immediately, and future entries are prepared before the next round starts. Missed reservations are not charged retroactively.
If you do not have enough points for a new round, you remain a member but sit out that round’s points prize. Tied points awards are split deterministically, separately from the background-image draw.
Leaving before a reserved round starts returns that entry’s points. Leaving or deleting your account after a round starts leaves that entry in the pool without your name or photo being shown. If a group is canceled or a round has no available step data, held entries are returned to remaining accounts. Unused points disappear when an account is deleted.
Groups and visibility
Public groups allow anyone to join. Private groups require an invitation. Nearby discovery shows only public groups whose admins opted in, using a broad city area selected manually. It does not use GPS or show a nearby-person directory.
Hiding a friend changes your roster. Blocking hides reactions and photos across that connection. Shared-group competition records continue to follow group membership.
Respect the group
Do not post harassment, sexual content, graphic violence, spam or private information about another person. Upload only images you have permission to share.
Report concerning content in the app and use the block controls for unwanted connections. Outpace may reject photos, and group admins may remove winner images. Outpace may remove groups from discovery following review.
Questions and account deletion
Use your avatar, Settings, then Help & feedback to report a result, syncing problem or content concern. Replies appear in the app. You can also contact support@outpaceapp.com.
Account deletion closes access once the server accepts the request and starts removal of your personal information. Shared groups may continue, and past results retain a Deleted member place without your name, personal step totals or photo. See Account Deletion for details.
